Environmentally Sustainable Design by Architecture Firm in Davao
Sustainability is at the core of Amihan Housing. While the design continues to explore the best ways to implement eco-friendly architecture, the design has identified key areas that need to be addressed to ensure our community remains environmentally responsible:
- Energy Efficiency: Our goal is to utilize renewable energy sources by integrating solar panels with a net metering system in partnership with Davao Light. The design also aims to achieve a Net Zero Energy Building by maximizing energy efficiency throughout the design and construction phases.
- Water Conservation: To ensure access to clean and safe water, the design plan incorporates rainwater recycling systems, atmospheric water generators for potable water, wastewater treatment solutions, and comprehensive filtration systems. Additionally, solar water heating will be used to further reduce energy consumption.
- Air Quality and Ventilation: Proper ventilation is essential for maintaining a comfortable and healthy living space. We are exploring evaporative coolers, air filters, mechanical ventilation systems, and energy-efficient ducting solutions like Gatorduct to enhance indoor air quality.
- Sustainable Materials: To reduce our environmental footprint, the design is considering the use of innovative building materials such as Liteblock, Polywall, and Green Antz. These materials are not only sustainable but also contribute to faster construction timelines and lower long-term maintenance costs.
Comfortable and Community-Oriented Living
At the heart of Amihan Housing is the desire to foster a strong sense of community while ensuring comfortable and practical living spaces. Our target residents include young families, couples, and first-time homebuyers who value both privacy and shared community spaces.
- Private Living Spaces: Each residential unit will prioritize natural light, ventilation, and insulation to enhance comfort. Unit sizes will range from 26-30 sqm for one-bedroom units, 52-60 sqm for two-bedroom units, and 78-90 sqm for three-bedroom units. Japanese-inspired entryways for shoe storage, zero-step entries for accessibility, and thoughtfully designed kitchens and bathrooms will contribute to a functional living experience.
- Shared Common Areas: Our building design will encourage social interaction and community engagement. Shared spaces will include the design-lit stairways, simple and inviting corridors with seating areas, a community board, a co-working space, and a dedicated Amihan office on the ground floor. The roof deck will serve as a vibrant gathering space with a pavilion, kitchen, BBQ area, and community garden.
- Essential Amenities: To further enrich the lives of residents, the design will provide a pet- and kid-friendly environment with activity spaces for fitness, play, and town hall meetings. A dedicated mail room, recycling and composting area, laundry and drying spaces, and an elevator for accessibility will also be incorporated into the
