The Inspiration: Traditional Torogan Architecture

A Torogan is the ancestral home of the Maranao nobility, serving as both a residence and a symbol of power and prestige. Characterized by intricate carvings, elevated wooden structures, and vibrant decorative motifs, a Torogan is a masterpiece of indigenous Filipino architecture. One of the most distinct features of a Torogan is the panolong, an elaborately carved beam that extends outward, showcasing okir (traditional Maranao carvings). The design of the Torogan symbolizes strength, heritage, and artistry, making it an ideal inspiration for this residential project.
